Pad printing on
promotional gifts
Pad printing, sometimes referred to as tampo,
uses a silicone rubber pad to transfer ink from an
engraved steel block on to mostly curved surfaces
although sometimes pad printing is recommended
for virtual flat surfaces.
Originally used extensively for
golf balls and other spherical objects printed in spot
colours. However, modern pad printing equipment
is able to print full colour in a single pass on this,
one of the most popular business gifts or promotional
items.
With the dramatic improvement
in technology tampo printing has become more acceptable
for some prestige business gifts where its now able to
print up to five colours. Indeed, for some Swiss Army
products pad printing is one of the
recommended processes.
Swiss Army products that offer tampo printing as an option
include watches, pens, SwissCard. Golf Tool, SwissTool and
certain penknives from the Swiss Army range.
