Digital printing on promotional
gifts
Digital
printing has revolutionised the personalization process in the
promotional gift industry. What was once thought of as "too
expensive" is now virtually commonplace when selecting business
gifts. For example, digital printing is now the method of
choice on identity badges, name badges, conference badges,
promotional coasters, advertising coasters, award plaques,
crystal paperweights, glass paperweights and desk name
plates.
For instance, one of the most
successful forms of digital printing is a desktop
promotional coaster...now seen in full colour, encapsulated in
clear acrylic or as a spectacular design as an aluminium
promotional coaster. Digital printing also enjoys significant
advantages when used in the production of conference badges
where the process easily manages the various permutations;
similarly, on aluminium labels where sequential numbering is
often a prime requirement.
Many organisations have benefited from the
significant advances in digital printingtechnology....and
none more so than the fashion industry. Here, latest
generation digital equipment allows a direct print onto
various textiles thereby eliminating the transfer print
stage. Consequently, it is now practical to produce a
single piece of cloth either as a sample or as a unique
one-off - often a requirement in the fashion industry and
all due to digital printing.
Digital print machines also produce general
stationery, excellent quality short run full colour
leaflets and brochures without the need for a bromide,
pmt, film or plate. Using computerised artwork these
machines often operate as an auxiliary printer hooked up
to an Apple Mac or PC and on occasions are able to
produce sublimation and other transfer
permutations.
To the experienced eye a digital
print is never as clean-cut as a quality off-set print
but, in many instances, a little degradation in quality
is amply justified by the associated economics of time
and money.
In any case, the
"spread" of printing when applied to a fabric substrate, is
inconsequential and not apparent to most impartial observers
and, for this reason, Digital Printing is
now, in many cases, a first choice personalisation
method.
