Desk nameplates

Desk name plates have two components; the actual name plates themselves and the desk nameplate holder. The nameplate  and the nameplate holder can be supplied separately.

Name Plates

The aluminium nameplates can be replaceable or permanent and may be inscribed in full colour with the name, title and logo as required. Or, if you want to do it in-house, printed card name plates will suffice in some environments.

Traditionally, engraved nameplates were inscribed black on brass in one of only two or three standard typestyles. With modern colour printing techniques all this has changed and it is now commonplace to have full colour printing on the nameplate. So gone are the days when a name plate had to be black brass.

Nowadays there is a huge choice of typestyles so that all desk nameplates and desk plaques can be distinctive as well as colourful and informative. Most desk nameplates are replaceable if you opt for the slide-in variety. However, many of the executive desk nameplates are in prestigious walnut, oak or mahogany and these have the custom nameplate bonded to the wood; nevertheless, it is possible to have a grooved wooden name plate holder so that name plates are exchangeable.

Wood Name Plate Holders

Originally all office name plates were a triangular block of hardwood, usually mahogany, with a heavy brass plate engraved in black.

Many organisations still prefer their personalised desk name plates to be the traditional wood triangular shape for their name plates often with a preferance for mahogany although there are now alternatives in light oak, walnut and black ash; and all from renewable managed forests. 

However, even this product has moved with the times and is now available with slide-in plates which make it an attractive office name plate and cost effectiove for many companies.

Aluminium Name Plate Holders

Some designers think that anodised aluminium is a more up-to-date way of presenting name plates for desks and undoubtedly they certainly can look extremely attractive in the right location.

Anodised metal name plate holders are supplied in silver or gold aluminium and can either be "L" shaped or sloping. A further double name plate version is available which can have a message or name on either side of the name plate.

Replacement employee name plates can easily be inserted into any existing name plate holder making this an extremely economical device with a long life.

PVC Name Plate Holders

By far the cheapest office name plate holder is the one manufactured in black, white or grey plastic and, in the right place, is a perfectly acceptable compromise of usefulness and cost effectiveness.

And, of course, new employee name plates simply slide in whilst the old personalised plates are discarded.

More often than not this is used as an "L" shape although this same desktop name plate holder can be inverted and used as a tent shape.
